OPEN – 2023 BCTRA Para-Equestrian Video Competition

The British Columbia Therapeutic Riding Association is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual BCTRA Para-Equestrian Video Competition.

The BCTRA Para-Equestrian video competition is an opportunity for riders of all levels and abilities to compete in the comfort of their own home/centre arena on a horse they feel most comfortable with. These videos will be judged, and riders will compete against other riders in BC and are eligible to place and win a ribbon.

• Pole Bending
• Barrel Racing
• Obstacle (mounted and unmounted)
• Para-Jumping
• Equitation/Horsemanship
• Para-Reining
• Para-Driving

In order to participate, riders need to record themselves performing a specific pattern, found in the information package, and then upload it to YouTube for the judge’s evaluation. They will also need to fill out an online entry form, and liability release and pay the appropriate entry fees. Rider Classification is not required, and all classes are open to riders with physical and intellectual impairments.

The results will be posted on the BCTRA website. Ribbons will be awarded to those who finish in the top three places of their class. Competitors will receive a copy of the judge’s scores and comments from their test. Certificates for each participant and centre will be mailed with ribbons.

You must be a BCTRA PARTICIPANT Member to Enter $5/year. 

Step One – Complete BCTRA Participant Membership *new in 2023*
Step Two – Submit Waiver Form (Over 18 or Under 18)
Step Three – Download 2023 Para-Equestrian Video Competition Package
Step Four – Submit your Video Entry Links by June 30, 2023

The cost per class is $15.

English or Western tack is permitted as well as any adaptive equipment that is required. All riders must always wear approved protective headgear when mounted on a horse. Riders must be dressed in neat/clean attire.
