What you will do

  • Develop, promote, and oversee all PRDA fund development programs, including donor campaigns, annual fundraising events, foundation, grant requests, and earned income.
  • Serve as a current point of contact for all current and potential donors
  • Research, write, and submit grant applications; fulfill foundation and corporate funding reporting requirements. Support development staff to fulfill application and reporting requirements
  • Develop Board agendas, meeting materials, financial reports and relevant topics for discussion for the Board of Directors
  • Attend all Board and Committee meetings as a non-voting member and provide reports on the performance of the centre as it relates to fiscal management, operations, public relations and staffing (employees and volunteers)
  • Maintain relevant insurance coverage, general ledger and revenues and expenditures
  • Prepare and recommend the annual operating budget and ensure financial solvency and transparency
  • Provide leadership and coordination of recruitment activities for employees and volunteers
  • Provide leadership to staff through collaborative coaching, guiding and modelling key behaviours and strategies, encouraging dialogue and providing guidance and advice to facilitate resolutions to work issues.
  • Conduct new rider assessments and intakes to ensure safety and suitability for PRDA programs.
  • Ensure effective, appropriate and quality horse care, selection, schooling, scheduling and retirement of PRDA horses
  • Other projects/responsibilities as required

What you bring

  • A level of education, training and experience relevant to a leadership role within a non-profit organization
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Two years of grant writing experience for non-profit funding
  • Proven leadership experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills conducive to interacting with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in operational planning, program development, and management
  • Demonstrated fiscal management skills within a non-profit organization
  • The ability to create and support a diverse workforce while establishing an inclusive and culturally safe environment and upholding these practices with compassion and respect.
  • Ideally, possess coaching experience in a therapeutic setting or equivalent
  • CANTRA or PATH Certification would be an asset
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019)

What we bring

  • $60,000- $70,000 a year. The starting salary for this position will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience.e

  • Option of horse board at the PRDA facility as a taxable benefit
