Para-Dressage Coaching Clinics with EC’s Clive Milkins
JANUARY 2023 – In collaboration, Equestrian Canada (EC), the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), Horse Council British Columbia (HCBC), and the British Columbia Therapeutic Riding Association (BCTRA) are hosting four Coaching clinics with Clive Milkins, Technical Advisor for the EC Para-Dressage program. These clinics are being held this March in Langley, Kamloops, Duncan, and Victoria.
Lower Mainland, Langley, BC – March 17th – 19th, 2023
Kamloops, BC – March 21st & March 22nd
Duncan, BC – March 24th & March 25th
Saanichton, BC – March 26th & March 27th
Clive Milkins is a graduate of the United Kingdom (UK) Sport Elite Coaching Program, a Fellow of Riding for the Disabled, and a Level 3 UK Certified Coach, EC Licensed Coach, and NCCP Certified High-Performance Dressage Coach, Milkins also has a long list of qualifications in equine business management, horse management, and teaching.
Milkins has been involved in Para-Dressage for over 30 years, training horses and coaching athletes to the highest levels of success on the world stage. Most notably as coach of internationally renowned Para-Dressage athlete, Sophie Christiansen of Great Britain who earned six Paralympic, four FEI World Equestrian Games, and eight European Championship titles.
Milkins has a strong passion for developing coaching systems and programs to grow the sport and has traveled extensively, coaching in Europe, North and South America, South Africa, and Asia. He has also worked closely with athletes of all abilities.
In addition, Milkins has extensive experience developing coaches by providing guidance and mentorship on developing their students to International Level.
These clinics are designed to educate coaches on topics associated with coaching riders with a disability and to encourage Equestrian Canada-certified coaches to include riders with disabilities in their training and competitive programs.
These clinics will provide an opportunity to connect emerging coaches and athletes while covering the principles of Para-Dressage coaching including guiding the improvement processes and technical skill acquisition toward the effective development of coaching activities. It will prepare athletes from grassroots education to international competitions. Each clinic will include rider demonstrations with simulated lessons, where coaches will be encouraged to engage and expand their knowledge in dressage.
