BCTRA held its Annual General Meeting on November 27, 2024 (Zoom meeting, 7 pm; voting closed at 9 pm). This year, we welcomed two new board members to the BCTRA team, Simone Bourassa and Michael Waters and bid farewell to Board Director Karen Swantje.

All of the resolutions were passed. These will be recorded as minutes for our member voting and approval at our 2024 AGM.

This year, we welcome Simone Bourassa and Michael Waters to our 2024 Board of Directors.

Simone Bourassa
Wardner, BC (Fernie/Cranbrook, BC)
Simone has been involved with the BCTRA Membership Engagement Committee since 2023 and is a Freedom Equine Association Non-Profit Organization Director. She looks forward to contributing to the growth, continued development, success and growing awareness of BCTRA to support programs that provide equine-assisted mental and physical wellness across the province.

Michael Waters
Victoria, BC (Vancouver Island)
For more than 25 years, Mike Waters has worked to build community. He has led and supported numerous initiatives that worked to develop, evaluate, and improve programs, services, facilities, and infrastructure. Mike is the former Executive Director of the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association and a current program volunteer and advisor to the VTRA Board of Directors. This past year, he volunteered on the BCTRA Member Engagement Committee. He lives and works in Rural Saanich with his family and Great Dane, Bergen.
