2023 Memberships Now Available

Since 2017 BCTRA has been providing funding to our Group Members annually and also during the Covid-19 pandemic. As we enter into our 2022-23 Annual Grant Cycle we thought we would share the three types of funding requests we receive.

Support for Certification and Education

BCTRA members across the province have used our granting opportunities to help them on the road to certification with such organizations as; Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship, Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association, Professional Association for Equine Facilitated Wellness, and the Certified Horsemanship Association. Our Professional Development grants help support our Group members and their instructors, volunteers, and staff to find reputable and well-tested training for their riders and clients. Other educational opportunities BCTRA has helped support our specialty training and clinics for Autism Spectrum training, equine bodywork training, mental health, and occupational first aid.

Providing and Caring for Horses

Our horses have many dimensions to their care and the events of recent years have driven the cost of that care even higher. BCTRA is dedicated to our equine partners and has supported many initiatives to provide for their care, comfort, and training. We have helped our Group members cover the cost and, in some cases, even purchase a horse or two for their programs. From routine health checks like teeth floating to bodywork sessions Group members have been able to enhance their horses’ lifestyles while affording the basics of hay, feed, and supplements.

Developing Programs and Rider Support

Many of our members have been running their programs for decades but still need some support from time to time. From helping to fund therapeutic riding lessons for a student in financial need or opening new spots in their current programs, our Growth and Development Grants have supported members in providing vital services to their riders. Some members have been able to develop new programs in natural horsemanship as well as therapeutic driving. BCTRA acknowledges the wide range of innovative services and program offerings – both in the saddle and on the ground – and is proud to support our members.
